PREAMBLE

Recognizing that a just, equitable and sustainable world is possible for all and acknowledging the nine (9) Core United

Nations Human Rights Treaties, and the Sustainable Development Goals 1, 3, 4, 5, 10, 16, and 17 the Organization for Abused and Battered Individuals (O.A.B.I):

 

Committed to the use of human rights-based and participatory approaches in its work as it advocates for social justice

and human development for all;

 

Determined to aspire to the realisation of gender equality as a means of ending gender-based violence and all forms of

discrimination and violence against women and girls;

 

Re-affirming our commitment to the prevention and elimination of gender-based violence and all forms of

discrimination and violence against women and girls;

 

Cognisant that gender equality will improve the lives of all. And it is socially, economically and politically beneficial for

countries to work towards its realisation;

 

Acknowledging that breaking gender stereotypes, and changing the social, structural and cultural systems which act

as barriers to gender equality will improve the lives of vulnerable and marginalised women and girls;

 

Aware that men and boys cannot be left behind as gender equality allows for men and boys to re-think masculinity,

critically analyse their reality and be equal partners to not only realise but practice, incorporate, and understand the crucial importance of gender equality for well-being and livelihoods;

 

Recognising also the duty of State Parties to create laws, and put measures and mechanisms in place to protect all

its citizens. The State should collaborate and develop partnerships with civil society and the private sector to collect reliable data so that effective policies can be implemented;

 

Believing that a better world is possible we will create new innovations, develop new partnerships, utilise technological

advances and participatory approaches for the peaceful co-existence of all.
